DENS - Local homeless charity assisted by Apsley Recruitment

When we were asked to review some proposals from other recruitment companies for a local charity we decided to put our ‘money where our mouth is’ and offer to do the work for free. We took DENS, a Hemel Hempstead based charity that works with the homeless through the full recruitment process for their new CEO and the successful candidate will start on 1st September 2016. This was a very rewarding piece of work that hopefully shows that some Recruiters do have a heart!

If you work for charity that need some Recruitment help please do get in contact. We will certainly do what we can!

They should know better!

Tony Burnell, Mike Cooke, Simon Lloyd and Nick Hawtin are raising money for Kings Langley Cricket Club (where Apsley’s Tom Templeton plays and coaches the U13’s) and the British Heart Foundation. They are in the process of cycling from John O’Groats to Kings Langley and are proudly sporting the Apsley Recruitment logo on their cycling kit. A great effort guys but you are all old enough to know better!

Apsley Recruitment provides more top level sporting sponsorship!

Apsley Recruitment agreed to sponsor the Anglia Ruskin University ‘Old Boys’ Cricket Tour. The weekend in August 2012 marked a gathering of some of the sporting greats that Anglia University have launched in to the world. Some may be a little more ’rounder’ and slightly less spritely than when they were attending the University but the years have not depleted any of the skill or sporting nous! We played two competitive games against the superb Great Canfield and Galleywood club. Both club made a considerable effort to make us feel welcome and the whole team enjoyed a superb weekend’s cricket – so much so that the team will re-assemble again in August 2013.

Apsley Recruitment sponsored Whitland U16 Rugby Tour

Apsley Recruitment are keen to support “top-flight” sporting endeavours wherever they can and, in view of this, recently sponsored the tour shirts for the Whitland Under-16 rugby team swan-song trip to Waterford, Ireland. Whitland are a small but successful club in rural West Wales feeding the Scarlets region, and have provided three current Welsh Internationals including Mike Phillips and Jonathan Davies.

The squad has been together for some years but this match marked the end of their season and existence as a group, as they now move up to a larger group of Youth players within the club. Tim’s son George is a keen player in the squad and the quid-pro-quo for Tim scamming a seat on the minibus to support the team was to arrange provision of some financial assistance from Apsley Recruitment for the shirts – the lure of the Guinness was never a factor, honestly! Maybe leaving the choice of shirt colour to the boys was not the best idea, but in fact the bright green tops meant that the squad was very easy to spot from a great distance allowing their whereabouts and activities to be monitored easily by the team coaches.

The Saturday match against Water Park RFC was very keenly contested, with the Whitland Captain scoring an early try from a tap penalty, with the lead changing regularly thereafter in a real ding dong battle. Some crunching tackles was put in by Whitland but eventually they wilted under constant pressure and Water Park ran out winners by one try.

The great thing to see was the camaraderie shown between the two teams of boys after the match (and after sharing a terrific curry in the clubhouse), playing touch rugby and swapping shirts. The hospitality of Waterford was much enjoyed by all the coaches and supporters on the Saturday evening and the lads had a great day by the beach in Tramore on Sunday before returning to West Wales on the Sunday night ferry.

Apsley Recruitment are very proud to have their name on the shirts and to have helped the boys enjoy a great weekend away to celebrate the end of their season.
